Nelly Thomas is not a Yummy Mummy

This solo stand-up comedy show about modern parenting premiered as part of the Melbourne International Comedy Festival 2008 at Comedy at Trades to rave reviews and terrific audience responses. It was recommended on three separate occasions by The Age Newspaper in Melbourne and won the very prestigious Nelly ThomasTrades Comedy Award for “Most Misleading Show title”! Yes, that last bit is a joke, but the award is real – she got a bottle of champagne and everything! Nelly now has plans to put the show on for another season for Melbourne Fringe, to tour it regionally and to tour a variation of the show nationally as part of the Westfield “We are Family” workshops for mums.

If you’re interested in booking Yummy Mummy for your own event, please contact Nelly.

What’s the show about?

Last year Nelly squeezed out a human … and she feels like she hasn’t got anything right since. Nelly thought no-one could make her feel more guilt than her mother. Then she became one. See one of Melbourne’s favourite funny women tackle pilates-free pregnancy, parenting, pilchers and a future for Incy Wincy on a planet with no water. If you are a parent, plan to be a parent or have a parent, come along. In other words, all grown-ups welcome.

This show is not suitable for kids except the Cry-Baby sessions where it is ok for parents to bring babies. Cry-baby shows are exactly the same as all the other shows and still geared toward an adult audience, but babies can come... and cry. Its aim is to give parents the opportunity to get out of the house and see a show. None of the shows, including the Cry-Baby show are kids shows. Other shows are grown-ups only.
